Gargh! I don't understand! What is it with all these bands that, 20 - 30 years after releasing an album decide to go back and perform it in full in front of an audience when it's probably long since been relevant or interesting to the bands themselves?

I know I do occasionally fall victim to enjoying the odd one or two reformed bands but the idea of The Stooges or Mudhoney (in the case of Mudhoney and various members of the Stooges, they've been making plenty of things since) just saying "oh yeah, we'll play the album that everyone likes in its entirity" seems so defeatist and sad...

I said to Krys, if I wanted to hear "Superfuzz Bigmuff" played how it should be played I'd stick it on my stereo instead of watching a bunch of grizzled old cash cows go through its motions for me at a cost of £20+.

Don't mean to wee on your chips and all but it's a pet peeve - I feel like I'm watching new, exciting music die out before my very eyes... :(

Although, that said - coming to see Bikini Atoll on Tuesday?

You can ignore the email I just sent you about the Mudhoney gig then! :p

Bikini Atoll - could do. Did you find out more about when, where and how much?

Mudhoney... Hmm. I'll go if Simon goes. ;P

Bikini Atoll, this Tuesday, at the Yacht Club (seems it is the place you linked to) and, according to Time Out, £5 a ticket.

It'll just be me and Krys then I guess!

Sounds fine, what time?

Well, the doors are at 7:30 I think (Tom threw away his copy of Time Out so I can't check!) but BA are headlining... I'll aiming to get there around or just after 8pm. If you fancy food or anything beforehand, I'd be up for that. :)

I'd like to nip home to Simon's first to get changed, but I can do that and still meet you around 6.45 or so, does that sound ok? Covent Garden Wagamama's?

Actually I don't know if I will make it to the gig. I've had a sore throat for a few days and yesterday I was losing my voice a bit. Today I'm worse and tomorrow I'll be going to the doctor... Even if I'm better a smoky gig is probably an incredibly bad idea.

Oops. D'oh.

Posted the other comment before I saw this one.

Sorry your throat's bad. :( Let me know if you change your mind and fancy coming out. Whether you make it or not though, hope you get well soon.

No way I'll be out now, I'm off sick and on penicillin. :(

Maybe next time. Enjoy the gig!

ARGH! That's awful! :( Sorry to hear it... I'll try and write a review of it, just for you.

Take it easy and get better... :)

I can understand this, but as a rocknerd, *any* chance to see living legends is welcome (hence me seeing Judas Priest the other month, and seeing Sonic Youth in '93 even though I didn't really know that much about them), and I for one am cursing that we don't have the money for this, or Patti Smith, and hope we'll be able to get last minute tickets (also for Dinosaur Jr. in June).

That's how I feel about it. I'm too young to have seen the Stooges first time round so I'm grabbing the chance to see them now. I'm hoping they'll still be as good.

Funhouse only contains seven songs... That could be a very short gig.
