I would be interested in hearing the whole discussion regarding the different types of people. I do agree that this is an interesting personality divison, but I wonder if it's for the same reasons.
It wasn't so much personalities as "my lot" vs "his lot", the sort of musicians who were influenced by one or other. (He was surprised when I told him Siouxsie and the Banshees cite "Moonlight Drive" as an influence.) It was an argument that drifted all over the place and was really very silly. e.g. I said I'd rather shag Iggy and he said, well yes, Jim Morrison's been dead for 35 years...
